LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The investigation into an early morning shooting continues at this hour as investigators remain on the scene; the side of a south Campbell County road. UPDATE: Investigators cleared the scene around 5:30am, and the search continues for the unknown male shooter.

“It was really difficult to track and determine exactly where this all happened. These folks were still driving around after they called 911,” said one county official. The Grantsboro area is where investigators and first responders went to try and locate the victims.

The mystery of the call that came in to Central Dispatch at 12:15am Friday was solved when Campbell County Sheriff’s investigators located the car on Country Oaks Lane. That road connects to Chestnut Stump Road which turns off Grantsboro Road near the Grantsboro Baptist Church.

Of the few details, two people, a man and a woman, believed to be in their 20s, suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds, based on comments from one official. The woman refused to be transported while the man was taken by Campbell County EMS to a Knoxville hospital. Had weather conditions been better, the man would have been flown out, according to officials.

Aside from the CCSO and EMS, the La Follette Police Special Response Team was called in along with the Tennessee Highway Patrol. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/04/2023-4AM-UPDATED – 08/04/2023-6AM)
