CAIRFIELD, TN (WLAF) – On Saturday, June 10 from 10am to 3pm, Kudzu Culture and Woodland Community Land Trust will be hosting an informative workshop aimed at shedding light on the captivating world of kudzu. Located at the Clearfork Community Institute on 170 Y Hollow Rd, attendees will have the opportunity to delve into the rich history and versatile applications of this unique plant.

The workshop will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the reasons behind kudzu’s initial introduction and its subsequent uses. From gathering materials and utilizing kudzu for fiber and fodder to exploring its role in cooking starch and medicine, the event promises to be an eye-opening experience for all who attend.

The agenda for the day includes a captivating indoor presentation from 10am to noon, aptly titled “Kudzu Culture: The Story of Kudzu.” This session will delve into the plant’s history and uses, as well as provide valuable insights into the existing market for kudzu biomass and related products. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session, allowing for an in-depth exploration of kudzu management strategies.

A complimentary lunch will be provided from noon to 12:30pm, allowing participants to refuel and network with fellow enthusiasts. Following the break, from 12:30 to 1:30pm, attendees will venture outdoors to partake in hands-on activities focused on harvesting various parts of the kudzu plant.

Returning indoors from 1:30 to 2pm, participants will have the chance to enjoy a refreshing cup of kudzu tea while reflecting on the knowledge gained throughout the workshop. Finally, from 2 to 3pm, attendees will engage in an indoor session dedicated to the art of weaving kudzu birdhouses.
