LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Few details are emerging from the investigation surrounding the discovery of a body in Norris Lake on Tuesday morning. However, officials with the La Follette Rescue Squad, who recovered the body, announce that it’s been identified as that of former squad member and retired law enforcement officer Curtis “Curt” Jesse.

Jesse was a lifetime member of the LRS, according to the squad’s Facebook page.

The body of an elderly male was recovered from Norris Lake by members of the La Follette Rescue Squad on Tuesday afternoon. The identity of the victim has not been released. A vehicle was located near the water, officials said. However, there is speculation that the body may have been inside a vehicle in the water though that has not been confirmed by investigators.

Fishermen discovered the body in the water around 11am Tuesday on Norris Lake, according to reports.

The body was recovered in an area near Hatmaker’s Point in the Macedonia area of Campbell County not far from a boat ramp. Central dispatch operators said the call came into their office at 11:10am today.

This is an ongoing investigation that involves officers across several agencies, according to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
