LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The JAKES Day (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship) program, hosted by the Pine Mountain Longbeards Chapter of the National Wildlife Turkey Federation (NWTF) is currently taking applications for one more week for its 11th Annual JAKES Day. The event will be held at Ball Farm Saturday, August 13th. Register HERE.

Space is limited to the first 200 kids to register. The event is open to ages 17 and under. Come join the Pine Mountain Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation for a day of outdoor fun!

There will be a multitude of outdoor activities: fishing, shooting BB Guns, bow and arrows, bowfishing, rock wall climbing, inflatables, wildlife identification, demos from public service agencies, and more.

All events will be taught by trained experts in the field, and volunteers will be on hand to assist.

Each child must have its own registration form, and it must be turned back in immediately, because the field of 200 participants is filling up quickly. The acceptance of applications will end at the 200th child.

This is a free event for all current JAKES Members. These are the members who have paid a new annual membership fee since Jan. 1, 2022. There will be a $10 membership charge to all other children who would like to participate in JAKES Day. The $10 fee pays for their NWTF membership and allows them to participate in the event.

At JAKES Day, several prizes will be given away to the participants, including BB guns, fishing rods and reels, and more. Brody Ball came away with a rod and reel at last year’s JAKES Day.

All parents are invited to attend JAKES Day as well, but children will remain in their assigned groups and under the direction of their group leaders for each rotation. Lunch will be provided for all attendees.

Agencies involved in the JAKES Day are NWTF, CORA, RMEF, TWRA, TN Department of Forestry, Campbell County Sheriff’s Department, and more. Tents, fans, and lots of water will be provided throughout the day. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/26/2022-6AM)
