JACKSBORO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – The Campbell County Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of its Community Awards, which will be presented at this evening’s Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner at 6pm at the Ball Farm Event Center.

This is the first year of an expanded awards presentation with the following categories and winners:

The 2022 Professional of the Year Award goes to Shannon Cox of Cox Construction.

The Professional of the Year is an individual who invests time and energy over and above the norm to build relationships in our business community and the region. The 2022 Professional of the Year Award is being given to Shannon Cox of Cox Construction.

Brent McNeeley of Walters Funeral Home was tabbed for the 2022 Young Professional Award.  Here he is in 2018 presenting the 50 years in funeral service award by the Tennessee Funeral Directors Association to his late father Charles at the annual convention and business meetings held at Murfreesboro.  

The Chamber’s Young Professional of the Year Award recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of a highly motivated, emerging leader from the Chamber’s membership. The 2022 Young Professional Award is being given to Brent McNeeley of Walter’s Funeral Home.

The Community Impact Award is given to an organization which has provided outstanding service to the community, demonstrated sound management practices and exceptional leadership. The organization must have operated for at least three years and be a member in good standing of the Chamber. The 2022 Community Impact Award is being given to Campbell County Habitat for Humanity.

The Veteran-Owned Business Achievement Award recognizes the success of one small business and honors its contributions to the growth and diversity of the American economy. This award recognizes a veteran-owned small business that has attained outstanding business achievement and exemplifies contributions made by veteran-owned businesses in the country. The 2022 Veteran Owned Business Award is being given to Lansden Hill of Pyro Shows.

The Educator of the Year award is awarded to a local educator that gives above and beyond to create a Superior Learning Environment for their students in the field of business or economics. The 2022 Educator of the Year Award is being given to Brad Honeycutt of Campbell County High School.

The 2022 Chamber Ambassador of the Year Award goes to Nancy Green of La Follette Public Library.

Ambassador of the Year Award is awarded to a person who participates in the Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Program that exemplifies volunteerism, attends chamber functions, such as Ribbon Cuttings, Chamber Coffees, Business of the Month, Ground Breakings, etc., volunteers for Chamber activities, is very active among the Ambassadors, and is willing to help with any activities that may come along. The 2022 Chamber Ambassador of the Year Award is being given to Nancy Green of La Follette Public Library.

WLAF opened in the Piedmont Hotel/Fleet Oil Building in 1953 and celebrates its 70th year on the air in 2023.

The Legacy Award is a prestigious award that honors the highest standard of dedication to growth, development and enhancement of our community for those who visit, live and work here. The Legacy Award is designed to recognize a long-standing member and their long-term commitment to economic growth and community investment. Member nominees have been members of the Chamber of Commerce for over 30 years. The 2022 Legacy Award is being given to WLAF.

The 2022 New Business of the Year Award goes to Nancy Thompson of The Doorway Gourmet.

The New Business of the Year Award is a member business less than 2-years-old that has achieved outstanding success and/or made a notable impact on the community. The 2022 New Business of the Year Award is being given to Nancy Thompson of The Doorway Gourmet.

This is the Weir Woods location of Community Trust Bank.

The Business of the Year Award is given to businesses which have contributed to the economic vitality and demonstrated an unusual faith in the future business climate of the area and is the highest honor of all Chamber awards. The 2022 Business of the Year Award is being given to Community Trust Bank.

The Director’s Award will be announced and presented to an individual who has proved to be invaluable to Chamber operations and events over the last year during the Annual Meeting and Dinner.
