NASHVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – State Sen. Ken Yager (R-Kingston) and State Rep. Dennis Powers (R-Jacksboro) announced Thursday that in the latest budget proposal submitted by Gov. Lee on Tuesday, Jellico Fire and Rescue would receive $95,000 for a fire truck.

“This fire truck would greatly benefit Jellico and improve the public safety of the community,” said Yager. “It will allow faster response times to emergencies, and I am very pleased Governor Lee included this in his amended budget proposal.”

Yager and Powers sent a joint letter to Lee requesting funding for a used fire truck for Jellico.

“I appreciate Gov. Lee recognizing the need for this fire truck in his amended budget proposal,” said Powers. “It will help keep the citizens of Jellico safe and protect our community infrastructure in the case of a fire.”

The latest budget proposal is being reviewed by the Senate Finance, Ways and Means Committee. The General Assembly is expected to pass the 2022-23 budget in the coming weeks. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/01/2022-6AM)
