CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Sheriff’s Det. Sgt. Gary Jeffers followed up about an altered license plate on a motorcycle at the Super 8 Motel on Aug. 24. He had knowledge that the operator and passenger of the motorcycle were in Room 317 of the hotel. When Jeffers knocked on the door he was greeted by Amy Jo Brown and the smell of burnt marijuana.

Brown was asked to step out of the room and speak with Jeffers. During the conversation, Brown admitted it was her room. Jeffers then asked about the male and female inside the room that he had seen get off the motorcycle. Jeffers continued to talk to Brown who admitted to smoking marijuana in the room, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

Jeffers went in the room to speak with the male and female, where he noticed digital scales and cut plastic baggies laying on the dresser along with multiple $20 bills. Jeffers advised Brown that he believed there were more narcotics in the room and requested she give them to him. Brown picked up a small black storage container and opened it, giving Jeffers the two bags of green plant material believed to be marijuana. Jeffers also observed a bag of white crystal substance that appeared to be methamphetamine in the container where she opened it along with a small baggy of blue pills.

Items in the container were two bags of marijuana, one bag of methamphetamine and six alprazolam pills.

Brown, 49, 317 North 14th Street, LaFollette was charged with possession of schedule II controlled substance, possession of schedule IV controlled substance, possession of schedule VI controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/02/2021-6AM)
