LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Last week, Campbell County Det. Sgt. Gary Jeffers was conducting surveillance in an undercover car in the parking lot of Woodland Estates due to drug activity in the area.

Jeffers said that while there, he was approached by a man who motioned for him to roll down his window. When he rolled down the window, the man asked him “who he was looking for and what he was doing.” The man, identified as 51-year- old Martin Davis of Scarlett Drive, La Follette, was told by Jeffers “in the upmost, professional manner that it was none of his concern what I was doing.”

Davis walked away, and Jeffers ran a check of active warrants. Jeffers discovered that Davis had an active arrest warrant for a second violation of state probation due to failing a drug screen in June for amphetamine and methamphetamine according to the report from the CCSO.

Jeffers walked over to where Davis had gone and informed him he was under arrest and took him into custody without incident. Jeffers gave Davis some advice that it would probably not be in his best interest to walk up to a vehicle that he may or may not suspect to be law enforcement if he had active arrest warrants, the report said.

Davis was charged with violation of probation out of criminal court. Based on jail records, this was the 20th arrest for Davis. He’s due in court on Sept. 13. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/02/2021-6AM)
