CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – The lack of a visible license tag cost a Jacksboro man a trip to jail.

On Sunday morning, Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Phillips saw a black Nissan Frontier traveling north on Highway 116 in Caryville. Phillips stopped the pick-up truck and made contact with the driver identified as Travis Hollifield. Hollifield allegedly told Phillips he had recently bought the truck and continued that the tag was taped in the rear window of the truck. Phillips saw the tag taped in the rear window of the truck, but it was not clearly visible from behind the truck due to the window tint, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

While the deputy was speaking with Hollifield, Hollifield allegedly told him that he had an opened bag of hypodermic needles underneath the driver seat. Phillips found a red bandana underneath the driver seat with two loaded syringes with a dark brown liquid reported to be heroin. He also located a plastic bag containing a multicolored pipe with brown residue inside of it. Inside a black backpack that belonged to Hollifield was a blue torniquet. Phillips discovered a small container in Hollifield’s jacket pocket that contained several small clear plastic bags, two small clear bags that had a brown substance believed to be Heroin, a small clear bag with a crystal-like substance thought to be methamphetamine and a bag with white powder likely to be cocaine, according to the report.

Hollifield, 40, 141 Hollifield Drive, Jacksboro is charged with possession of schedule I controlled substance, possession of schedule II-controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation registration law. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/01/2021-6AM)
