JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – “It’s open, and we need for folks to drive slowly across where the bridge once stood,” said Campbell County Road Superintendent Ron Dilbeck.

Crews worked non-stop starting Friday at noon with a reopening goal of Monday at noon. However, the road reopened at 6 pm Sunday some 18 hours ahead of the goal.

Asphalt was so deep, it took quite a while for it to cool.

“Special thanks go to LUB and PCUD. They played a big part by relocating their lines. They went non-stop on Saturday. That really speeded up the process,” said Dilbeck.

WLAF’s Charlie Hutson takes us through a before, during and after look at the bridge on Towe String Road.

He described the whole project as “it’s all great.” Twin K Construction was great he added.

There’s still some housekeeping left come Monday morning. Striping, tossing down some straw and adding a guard rail are on the list. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/15/2021-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF WLAF’S CHARLIE HUTSON)
