IVY DELL, TN (WLAF) – Grant dollars and a crew from the Campbell County Highway Department are at work stabilizing flood damaged roads. This project is taking place about a half-mile from the Ivy dell Pentecostal Church.

Darrell Johnson operates a back hoe at Ivy dell.

The project came about after the rain storms in April 2020. The grant is through the NRCA, Natural Resources Conservation Service. The NRCS, formerly known as the Soil Conservation Service, is an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture that provides technical assistance to farmers and other private landowners and managers.

Highway department crew members work one of the slide areas.
This is another of many projects where the county’s rock quarry plays a large role.

“This is a road stabilization project where creeks and streams have gotten above flood stage, and we’ve gotten back in there at the water level and are building a rock wall,” said Campbell County Road Superintendent Ron Dilbeck.
