CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Speeding in a construction zone landed a Smyrna, Tennessee, man in jail over the weekend.

According to a Caryville Police report, Caryville Officer Tony Mahar was on patrol northbound on Interstate 75 when he witnessed Robin Wynne, 61, of Smyrna, speeding 67 miles per hour in a 60 MPH construction zone. The officer made a traffic stop at mile marker 141.    After speaking with Wynne, officers learned that he did not have a driver’s license on file and that the state of Ohio had two “pickup in state only” warrants on him.  Officer Mahar received consent to search the vehicle and located several syringes in the passenger seat and a small pink box in the trunk.  Inside the box was a black scale with a crystal like substance on it.  There was also a small spoon with residue on it and several corner baggies, according to the police report.
Wynne was transported to the county jail and charged with speeding 67 in a 60 MPH construction zone, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with ID only, violation of the financial responsibility law.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/24/2020-NOON)
