Clarence Herb Archer, 74, of Sadieville, Kentucky, formerly of La Follette, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. He was born on December 9, 1945, in Harlan, Kentucky, son of the late Frank and Gladys (Sowder) Archer. Besides his parents, Herb was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Walker and Thelma Householder; one brother, Raymond Archer. Herb served in the United States Army National Guard and was a member of American Legion Post #24. He was an avid carpenter, enjoyed gardening, hunting, playing poker and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Herb, along with his brother Bill, played Little League Baseball in its very first season in La Follette.

Herb was the husband of Charlotte (Elliott) Archer.  In addition to his wife, Herb is survived by two daughters, Susan (Steven) Conner and Tonya (Phillip) Boyd; his son, Jonathan “J.D.” (Shannan) Archer; four grandchildren, Jared Thomas Baker, Elisha Boyd, Lucy Conner and Preston Archer; seven step-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Petitt and Mildred Baird; one brother, William “Bill” Frank Archer; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, from 11am until 1pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home.  There will be a graveside service at Sadieville Cemetery with full military honors provided by American Legion Post #24 Honor Guard.   1. Herb and I played baseball together in Little League and high school. So sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences and prayers for the family.
