LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – On Monday night, around 9 pm, Campbell County Deputy Anthony Branam answered a call about a burglary on South Hwy 25W. The victim alleged that someone had broken into his home and stole a sealed sensor microwave that was valued at $300.

Branam was given a BOLO (be on the lookout for) for a red Dodge Extended Cab that was possibly involved in a burglary. Branam was notified at approximately 11:35 pm, that the LaFollette Police Department had the Dodge stopped on N. Tennessee Ave. When Branam arrived on the scene he noticed a sensor microwave still in the box behind the driver’s seat, at this point LaFollette Police took over the investigation, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office.

After leaving the scene Branam recalled the microwave and then went to home of the individual who had been driving the truck. The driver was later identified as Theron Percy Jones. When Branam arrived at Jones home north of LaFollette, Jones took off running, but returned to the home. Jones was placed into custody and the sensor microwave was located on the front porch of the home. He was advised of his Miranda Rights and asked if he wish to speak about the microwave. Jones waived his rights and wished to speak. When asked where he got the microwave, Jones stated that someone else stole the microwave.

The victim was able to positively identify the microwave, and it was returned to him.

Jones, 44, 1122 Hwy 25W, LaFollette is charged with theft of property under $999.99.  According to jail records, he is housed at the Campbell County Jail this morning, and this was the 21st time Jones has been arrested.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/28/2019-6AM)
