LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Patrolman Zack Daugherty with the LaFollette Police Department observed a 2002 White Chevrolet being driven by a man identified as Shaun Lee Metzler on Wed., Sept. 25 at approximately 5 pm. Officer Daugherty had prior knowledge that Metzler’s driver’s license was suspended. The patrolman stopped Metzler at the Main Street Shell, and Metzler stepped out of the vehicle.
Metzler told Daugherty he had a needle in his pocket, according to a report from the LaFollette Police Department. When Metzler was asked what he uses he allegedly stated Heroin. Daugherty conducted a field sobriety test on Metzler with Metzler performing unsatisfactorily on some parts of the test, based on the police report.
Sgt. Adam Southern transported Metzler to the Campbell County Jail. Upon arriving to the jail, the defendant was read his Miranda rights and stated he understood. Officer Daugherty read the Tennessee implied consent law in its entirety to the defendant and requested a blood sample for chemical testing. Metzler consented to provide a blood sample.
Metzler, 43, 767 Mt. Paran Road, Jacksboro, was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and driving on revoked/suspended. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/08/2024-6AM)
