Former Campbell Lady Cougar Sarah Cain and her Bryan College Lions are closing in on a 30-win season.

DAYTON, TN (WLAF) On Wednesday, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) officially announced the Div. II Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top-25 Poll—No. 6, and rising one spot is Bryan women’s basketball coming in at No. 13.

The Lions and the Eagles of Reinhardt University (Ga.) are the only two teams representing the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) in the top-25. Reinhardt held onto their No. 22 ranking with a 25-2 overall record. Another AAC member in Union College (Ky.) is currently receiving votes.

Bryan just wrapped up regular-season play this past weekend where they completed their second straight undefeated AAC campaign at 24-0 while owning the best overall record in all of NAIA Div. II women’s basketball at 28-1. The Lions three-peated as AAC regular-season champions and enter this week’s AAC tournament as the No. 1 seed with the plan to defend their conference tournament crown of three years running.

The first team standing in the way of Bryan and their look at a fourth straight AAC tournament title is the No. 8 seed Milligan College Buffaloes (Tenn.). The two teams are scheduled to meet on Thursday, Feb. 27 at noon in the quarterfinals. The Lions made easy work of the Buffaloes in their regular-season matchups, 94-76 and 88-66.

The event is being held at the MeadowView Marriott Conference Resort & Convention Center in Kingsport, Tennessee. It is a 10-team, single-elimination tournament.
