Jennifer Orick filed her petition to run for her late husband’s post on the Campbell County School Board on Friday.

On Saturday morning, on what would have been Mike Orick’s birthday, Jennifer announced on Facebook that she will seek to finish the final two years of Mike’s four-year term.  Mike Orick ran unopposed for the 4th district school board seat in 2014.  He died unexpectedly this spring, and Jennifer was appointed last month to fill the vacancy until the November election.

Saturday, on Facebook, Jennifer wrote, “So with the encouragement and support of our family and friends I turned in my petition yesterday for the 4th district School Board seat that will be on the November ballot. Mike you were always hard to pick out presents for so let this be my birthday gift to you. I hope that I can continue your legacy of helping people and doing what is best for our schools. Can you imagine what Mike would say about this?”

Election Day is Tuesday, November 6.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/06/2018-6AM)
