Young Cougars look forward to playing Central, district’s top team

Cat fight tips off Friday at 7:30pm for Campbell and the Bobcats, watch the live telecast on WLAF

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The stretch of eight straight District 3-AAAA games to start the new year continues tonight at Knoxville as Campbell visits Central. The Bobcats, 14 & 3, sit at the top the district standings and have won all of their home games so far.

The Cougars are 4 & 10 and winless through two district games while Central is 3 & 0 in the league.

“Our young team is excited for the opportunity to compete against the top team in the district, and they (Central) are playing at a very high level. They feature an athletic, guard-oriented lineup with size, strong defensive play, and the ability to shoot the ball at a high percentage,” said Campbell Head Coach Ernie Clawson.

Central swept the regular season series with Campbell last season. One of the losses was a one-pointer on Brown Court.

“We understand the challenge ahead, but we know that continued improvement on the defensive end will be key as we work to get over the hump and secure a district win,” said Coach Clawson.
