The award highlights Senator Yager’s longstanding support for economic growth, infrastructure improvements, and community development initiatives that directly benefit families and businesses across the region. “Each year, the East Tennessee Development District names a Legislator of the Year for outstanding support,” said ETDD Executive Director Rick Yakubic. “This year, Senator Ken Yager is our choice. He’s been a longtime advocate—serving as chairman, on our board, and sponsoring key legislation. From a stop-gap budget amendment to helping districts use insurance instead of surety bonds, he’s saved us costs and improved operations. Most recently, he led efforts to upgrade and secure recurring funding. He’s also hosted many grant conferences. We’re honored to recognize his continued dedication.
The East Tennessee Development District (ETDD) works with local governments, businesses, and community leaders to promote economic development, housing, and essential services across the region. The award is presented annually to individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and dedication to advancing the mission of the ETDD.
