Senator Ken Yager announces over $4.9 million in CDBG grants awarded in Senate District 12

NASHVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- State Senator Ken Yager (R-Kingston) recently announced that the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) is providing Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) in Senate District 12 The grants will assist communities with local infrastructure, safety, and other community improvements.
The grants recipients in Senate District 12 are:
- Byrdstown-$550,000 for sewer system improvements
- Celina-$559,500 for sewer system improvements
- Fentress County- $997,920 for ambulance station improvements
- LaFollette-$849,555 for drainage improvements
- Pickett County-$420,000 for fire protection improvements
- Red Boiling Springs-$550,000 for sewer system improvements
- Scott County-$1,000,000 for road department facility improvements
“Investing in our local infrastructure is essential to the safety and quality of life of the people we serve,” said Senator Yager. “These CDBG grants will help our communities upgrade critical services, strengthen emergency response, and support long-term growth throughout Senate District 12. I’m grateful for TNECD’s partnership and proud to see these funds put to work where they are needed most.”

The allocation of CDBG funds is based on priorities set through the public meeting process at the local community level. The CDBG program is funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and administered by TNECD. Funds are available for water and sewer improvements, health and safety projects and other improvements to enhance the quality of life in Tennessee’s rural communities.
