There are light accumulations of snow and ice across Campbell County

LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- Sunday’s weather forecast seems to be well on track with sleet, snow and freezing rain falling here on North 5th Street in Downtown La Follette.

There’s a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for Sunday until 7pm for Campbell County and much of the region.

Sleet began falling just before 9am on Sunday outside the WLAF studio.

Accumulation totals will range up to a tenth of an inch for ice and as much as an inch of snow.  Strong cold winds stay through early Tuesday. Temperatures hold in the upper 20s for much of the day on Sunday before they begin warming around 3pm.

For Sunday night, there will be cold rain, strong winds and temperatures in the 30s, above freezing.

Monday opens with rain, snow and temps in the 40s.  Rain and snow will come and go on Monday. After a daytime high of 43 around 4am, temperatures cool through the day on Monday all the way to a low of 21 Monday night under mostly cloudy skies.

..WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM TO 7 PM EST SUNDAY…

* WHAT…Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations between one tenth and one quarter of an inch.

* WHERE…Campbell County and a portion of east Tennessee.

* WHEN…From 9 AM to 7 PM EST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions Sunday. Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice.
