Wilma Edna (Lawson) Hutson, age 97, of the Saxton Community of Whitley County, Kentucky, passed away early Monday morning, June 3, 2024, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 2, 1927, to the late Joe Matt Lawson and Ethel (Douglas) Lawson in the Gatliff Community of Whitley County.  Her maternal grandparents were the late Samuel Porter Douglas and Cynthia Jane (Holt) Douglas.

She was a long-time member of the Clearfork Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was recently preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Roscoe Hutson, on May 8, 2024 – just 26 days ago; daughter, Joyce Hutson; two brothers, E. J. Lawson and Harvey Lawson; sister, Jolene (Lawson) Hangartner; 13 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George Benton Hutson, Jr., Clara Alma Hutson, Cecil Robert Hutson, Howard Monroe Hutson, William Preston Hutson, Mary Anne Hutson, Freda Flora  Hutson, Anna Myrtle Hutson, Clarence Edward Hutson, James Douglas Hutson, Mabel Marie Hutson, Homer Phillip Hutson, and Louise Lillian (Hutson) Hughes; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, George Benton Hutson, Sr. & Mary Katherine (Chaver) Hutson.

She is survived by her son, David R. Hutson, and wife, Beverly, of Fletcher, Ohio; grandson, David E. Hutson, and wife, Amy, of Bradford, OH; granddaughter, Sarah Sharp, and husband, Ben, of Union City, OH; and two great-grandsons, Dustin Hutson and Colton Hutson, both of Bradford, OH.

She is also survived by her sister, Una B. Partin, and husband, Hobert, of the Saxton Community; sister-in-law, Ruby Lawson, of Cincinnati, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends, neighbors, and other relatives to mourn her passing.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday afternoon, June 5, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel.

Graveside service and interment will follow on Friday afternoon, June 7, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fletcher Cemetery in Fletcher, Ohio, under the direction of Suber, Shively and Vernon Funeral Home.
