Cougars execute on-side kick to perfection against the Dragons at Clinton
Watch Campbell’s onside kick and scoring drive.
JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Drew Croley kicked it. Austin Jordan recovered it. Eli Lawson led the scoring drive. Oh, and the Clinton Dragons did their part, too. The Dragons won the toss, elected to receive, and the Cougars did the rest.
“When we watched film on Sunday, game-after-game, they did it every time. Clinton lined up about three to five yards back of the 50 yard line. We went into the week knowing we’d on side kick and practiced it every day last week,” said Coach O.
After the onside kick recovery, the Cougars began their scoring drive at the Clinton 46 and promptly marched to the north end zone. Sophomore tailback Braydon Graham took the hand off, started left, cut back right and streaked through the line for a 10 yard touchdown. Campbell lined up in the dead pole cat formation for a two point conversion, and Eli Lawson ran it in for an 8-0 Cougar lead.
The 0 & 6 Cougars venture to Powell on Friday for a Region 3-AAAAA match up with the undefeated Panthers. Powell is 5 & 0.
