CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN (WLAF)- “Today’s heavy rains have helped, but a rapid freeze could happen tonight,” said Campbell County Road Superintendent Ron Dilbeck. Tonight’s expected freeze means Dilbeck and his crews will retreat roads with a mix of gravel and salt.

It was mid-day Saturday when Dilbeck and his crews took to the highways working, clearing roads, many roads multiple times, on through midnight. They were right back at it by 4:30 Sunday morning.

“The outlying areas were hit hardest with accumulating snow and ice on roads in the White Oak, Roses Creek, Stinking Creek and Jellico areas,” said Dilbeck. The higher elevations presented the most challenges, according to Dilbeck.

Eight downed trees were cleared Saturday night. Upwards of 50 trees were cut and moved off roads Sunday morning, says Dilbeck.

Rain, snow and freezing rain linger through early Monday as temperatures head for the lower teens. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-01/25/2026-3PM)
