Downtown LUB customers are temporarily without water; watch the project HERE

LUB’s Ronald McGhee points to the area where the break is and where digging will soon follow.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- “You just never know how long a repair like this is going to take. It could be four hours, and I hate to think, but it could even be longer than that,” said Ronald McGhee with LUB. The 34-year LUB veteran says the leak’s right here as he pointed to a freshly painted blue line on the south side of the turn lane of East Central Avenue at Nevada Avenue.

The call of the water leak came in at 9:14 Tuesday morning. LUB crews were on the scene within minutes and began assessing just what was going on with the water line that rests way below East Central Avenue.

TDOT’s Trent Carroll (right) explains to Wayne Ward (left) and Luke Marlow, both with LUB, how the traffic will flow.

LUB crew members began coning off East Central Avenue, put signage in place and set arrow boards up at Domino’s Pizza and between the two banks in town, Peoples Bank of the South and Community Trust Bank. Trent Carroll with TDOT shared the traffic pattern game plan, and it was put in place.

The blue line marks the spot where the project begins.

Traffic runs single lane from 9th Street to Tennessee Avenue.

Temperatures were around 27 degrees when LUB crews arrived. The day’s high, with sunshine, will top out around 40 degrees. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-01/14/2025-NOON)
