NASHVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Madelion Tsukas has been named as a 2024 Tenn Under 10 Literacy Ambassador for the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation (GELF).  Across the state only 10 third graders are selected to serve as the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation literacy ambassadors.

Tsukas was honored at a banquet held on Tuesday night at the Tennessee State Museum in Nashville.

The foundation selects ten qualifying winners each year to become “Little Literacy Leader” ambassadors.

Students who are selected receive a post-secondary education scholarship. Selection is based on the child’s ability to overcome obstacles along their literacy journey from learning to read to reading to learn. The students who are chosen must have four values, tenaciously driven, eager to read, noticeably growing and a nonstop learner. All these values describe Tsukas who shows up to school daily eager to learn and gives school her all every day.

Madelion Tsukas is with her mom and dad, April and Seth Tsukas.
