A vehicle plunges down an embankment, another strikes a tree

The driver of this Toyota was airlifted to a hospital.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN (WLAF)- A Toyota CUV went off Highway 116 and down a steep embankment at Vasper while moments later, a vehicle struck a tree on Old Highway 63 east of La Follette.

At 9am is when the CUV plunged about 200-yards off 116 near the Dana Terry railroad bridge. The driver was freed and carried back up on foot to the ambulance. The woman reportedly suffering from head injuries was transported by Campbell EMS to the Caryville ball field. From there, she was airlifted to a Knoxville hospital.

The Caryville Volunteer Fire Department responded along with the sheriff’s office.

It was about 45 minutes later when the call of a vehicle striking a tree east of La Follette came in to Central Dispatch. This accident happened on Old Highway 63 near Elm Grove Baptist Church. The driver involved in this mishap escaped serious injury, according officials.
