Due to scheduled construction and improvements to the facility

JACKSBORO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- The Hill Top Transfer Station located on Towe String Road will be closed for approximately four weeks due to scheduled construction and improvements to the facility. “This construction and improvement project is needed after the fire to the transfer station structure in August 2024,” said Todd Hatmaker with the Towe String Road Convenience Center.

The Transfer Station caught fire Sun., Aug. 11, 2024, around 2pm. The photo on the right was snapped on Tuesday afternoon.
The closure will begin on Friday, April 17, 2026, and is expected to continue through Tuesday, May 5, 2026, weather and construction progress permitting. These upgrades are being made to improve safety, efficiency, and service for our community.

During this time, the public will not have access to the Hill Top facility. We ask customers to make alternate arrangements for disposal while construction is underway. Compactors will remain available for use for household garbage only.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these necessary improvements. Updates will be provided if the schedule changes.
