JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Back in the day, one of college football’s top defensive coordinators told me the best way to defend the Wing-T offense was to not schedule it. The Campbell Cougars aren’t afforded that luxury since Lenoir City is a region opponent, and the Panthers run that tricky offense.
The Wing-T is considered one of the best misdirection formations in the game, and Lenoir City has its version of it purring as we enter the middle game of the season on Friday. On Friday, Campbell visits the Panthers for the first time since 2016.

“Yes, it’s a challenge to prepare for this offense, because no one hardly runs it, and we’re not used to seeing it,” said Justin Price, Head Coach of the Cougars. On Tuesday, the Cougars defense spent a lot of time going up against the scout team’s version of the Wing-T.
Both teams are 2 & 2, and the Panthers are unbeaten at home and a point away from being 3 & 2. This is a key region game for both clubs as Campbell is 0 & 1 and needs a win while it’s the first league match-up for LC.
Lenoir City has wins over South-Doyle and The Kings Academy (35-0). The losses were to Loudon (27-26) and Sevier County.
