‘I think people here are ready for a big time winner’- Mark Pemberton, new Cougar Football Coach
JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – “I’m very humbled and honored to have been chosen for the job,” said just hired Campbell Head Football Coach Mark Pemberton during his first interview hosted by WLAF’s Josh Parker.
The coach comes to The Hill after 11 successful seasons at Rhea County. At Rhea County, Pemberton had one 13 win season along with three 10 win campaigns and four seasons of nine wins.
As a player, Pemberton quarterbacked Rockwood to the state title in 1976 with a 13 & 0 record. He coached a state champion in Catholic in 2008. The Irish finished 15 & 0.

“Things are fixin’ to change around Campbell County. I can promise you that,” said Mark Pemberton to the crowd. For that, he received a rousing response from the crowd.
Coach Pemberton went on to say “Let’s get this program turned into a big time winner. We’re gonna be a good football team. You hear me?”
“Everybody onboard,” said the new coach.
