JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Preseason camp officially ended on Thursday afternoon, and the 2025 football season kicks-off tonight at Lenoir City for the Campbell County Cougars. The 7pm contest signals the beginning of the Coach Taylor Ownbey Era.
In April, Coach O took over for Coach Mark Pemberton becoming the 16th head coach in the program’s 51 year history.
The LC Panthers are just as physical as they were last season, according to Coach Ownbey. The Panthers won 34-14 last September on Reynolds Field.
Lenoir City also has a new coach, William Coleman, and Coach Ownbey describes Coleman’s efforts with his team as a great job up to this point.
“They’re going to pound the rock at us, and then they’ll try to catch us off guard with their passing game,” said Coach Ownbey. LC is physical up front defensively which means Campbell must execute in order to move the football, and on the other side of that, the Cougars have to tackle a lot better, according to Coach O.
“Our team has been doing a good job this week. Hopefully, we’ll get the job done,” said Coach Taylor Ownbey.

All the coverage begins with The Bullock Law Firm Countdown to Kick-off at 6:30pm. Former Cougars Jake Miller and Jonah Brassfield will join Martin and Allen this season. Kick-off for this non-region game between Campbell and Lenoir City is 7pm.
