‘Sometimes we set up and sell out of the truck at Hardee’s-‘ James “The Honey Man” Gross

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- By 6am Friday, James Gross and family will be back in the garden. “There’s not much time off in the summer anymore,” said the law enforcement officer turned school bus driver and farmer.

Gross and his daughter, Amelia, dropped off some honey at WLAF on Thursday on their way to deliver tomatoes to Katie’s Restaurant. Gross has 288 bee hives and set a goal to have 500 by the spring.

He and his family farm a total of eight acres, at their home farm at Pinecrest and on a farm at Coolidge. “We call it Brothers P & P (produce and plants),” said Gross.

During the school year, he drives Bus 27 and owns a few other buses that run for the Campbell school system.
