NASHVILLE, TN. (WLAF)- Â State Rep. Dennis Powers (R-Jacksboro) has announced $64,350 in grant funding from the Tennessee Arts Commission to support local arts and cultural activities.
“The arts enrich lives and bring communities together,†Powers said. “This funding will benefit residents by supporting various education, economic development and tourism efforts locally. I congratulate all of the grant recipients and look forward to the positive results these investments will have.â€
Local grant recipients include:
- Campbell Culture Coalition: $17,500 to support arts projects and activities across all disciplines that focus on community vitality and engagement in rural counties
- Postmark LaFollette: $3,600 to support projects that demonstrate creative and innovative arts learning programming in community settings
- Postmark LaFollette: $24,000 to support arts projects and activities across all disciplines that focus on community vitality and engagement in rural counties
- Postmark LaFollette: $2,750 to support arts projects that focus on increasing access to underserved and underrepresented people
- City of Luttrell: $3,200 to support arts projects and activities across all disciplines that focus on community vitality and engagement in rural counties
- Friends of the Cumberland Trail: $11,000 to support arts projects and activities across all disciplines that focus on community vitality and engagement in rural counties
- Union County Opry: $2,300 to support arts projects and activities across all disciplines that focus on community vitality and engagement in rural counties
“Tennessee is fortunate to have elected leaders who understand the positive impact arts and culture have on Tennesseans and their communities,†Tennessee Arts Commission Executive Director Anne B. Pope said. “Arts and culture are vital tools for attracting and retaining businesses and help build stronger communities by enhancing the distinctive character of Tennessee places.â€
The commission expects to award approximately 1,000 annual and rolling grants during the year, totaling up to $12 million. These funds have a direct impact on communities across Tennessee, in both urban and rural areas.
The selection process involved a review by citizen advisory panels with expertise in various arts disciplines and a review by the full commission. Other grant opportunities are offered throughout the year for qualifying organizations including grants for Arts Build Communities and Student Ticket Subsidy.
