JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The Campbell County Courthouse was packed with proud parents on Tuesday evening at the Campbell County School Board meeting, where a multitude of students were recognized for outstanding academic achievement.
Further along in this story, see the full list of the students who were recognized.
“Tonight, we have the privilege of recognizing some of Campbell Couty’s brightest top students. It is a pleasure and honor to have you here with us tonight and to have this room filled up. I want to congratulate you on your success and say thank you to the parents who are here who have supported their students along their journey,” said Director of Schools Jennifer Fields.
Different groups of students were recognized for different achievements.
The first group of students recognized was AP Capstone Diploma earners. This is the first time in history in Campbell County that students have achieved this distinction.
“To earn this distinction, students must successfully complete AP seminar and AP research with a score of 3 or higher, and then take at least four AP exams, also scoring 3 or higher,” Fields said, adding that she and board members were proud to recognize these students.
The next group of students recognized was outstanding ACT scores. Other high school students were recognized for scoring a 4 or 5 on the May AP exam. Other students were recognized for Academic excellence on their TCAP scores.
The BOE also recognized Jacksboro Elementary School second grader Randi Jane Wilson for participating in the Tennessee Kids Serve Summer Challenge. She completed three community service projects, including hosting a lemonade stand at Cove Lake’s 5K Race, collecting empty tissue rolls to donate to the animal shelter and sending care cards to nursing home patients and shut-ins of her church.
“She was able to visit the governor’s mansion and be recognized there for that, so congratulations on that special achievement,” Fields said.
Several middle school students were also recognized as were several elementary school students for receiving perfect TCAP scores.
Director Fields once again congratulated all students on their success.
“You have made your parents and your teachers very proud.”
