Stephen Pebley, affectionately known as “Stevie” to those closest to him, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025. Born to Jack “Skeeter” Howard Pebley and Yvonne Marie Pebley, Steve lived a life marked by faith, love, and purpose.

A lifelong educator, Steve touched countless lives as a dedicated teacher and coach. He spent many years inspiring students both in the classroom and on the football field, where his passion for the game and his heart for mentoring others shone brightest. Beyond teaching, Steve was a beloved sports radio host whose voice carried the excitement of the games he loved and the warmth of his personality that drew people in.

Steve’s two greatest loves were simple—sports and Jesus. His faith guided every step of his life and served as an anchor for his family and friends. He was a man who lived with integrity, humility, and joy. His sense of humor, wisdom, and kindness made him not only a teacher and mentor but a true friend to many.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Jenny Elaine Overton, and son, Patrick Pebley. He also leaves behind his cherished granddaughter, Whitley Davidson, and her husband, Zachary Davidson, as well as his caring son-in-law, Corey Overton.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Yvonne Marie Pebley and Jack “Skeeter” Howard Pebley, and his former wife, Cathy Agee.

Steve’s legacy will live on in the countless hearts he touched—as a teacher, a coach, a radio host, a friend, and most of all, as a man of deep love and faith. His family finds peace knowing he is now home with the Lord he loved so dearly.

A celebration of his life and memorial service will be held 2 PM Monday, October 20, 2025 at Cross-Smith Chapel.
