Wlaf1450Lady Cougars 42 Karns 38; key district game Friday at Halls for Campbell
KARNS, TN (WLAF)- The Voice of the Cougars Josh Parker fittingly described the first half of the Campbell Lady Cougars contest with Karns as a “sleepy little game”. And it was. The teams combined for a meager 23 points at the half.
Both teams awakened after halftime, and it was a back and forth affair down to the very end. Campbell County kept Karns at bay in the closing seconds as four Preslee Chapman free throws helped secure the win.
It was a 6-4 Campbell edge after one quarter, and then, yawn, Karns was in front at halftime, 14-9.
The Lady Cougars outscored Karns 14 to 7 to lead 23-21 entering the final period. In a tense last quarter, Campbell put in 19 points to Karns 17 resulting in a final score of 42-38.
Back on Tuesday, December 9, the Lady Cougars defeated Karns 60 to 32 at Brown Gym.
The Lady Cougars are now 9 & 7 in all games and 5 & 1 in District 3-AAAA games. Karns Lady Beavers have won one game out of 17 to go along with a 1 & 6 mark in the district.
Preslee Chapman finished with 20 points, Addy Coleman had nine, Karlie Allen with five, Reagan Davis four as Taraji Abernathy scored three as Kaylee Albright ended with a point. Ellie Faulkner played and did not score.
