Upwards of 50 trees down across Campbell County; 13,000 LUB customers without power

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- The Well Springs area was the first to be hit by a strong storm today around 2:30pm followed by much of the rest of the county being hit with a severe storm soon after 4pm. Damaging wind in excess of 60 miles per hour and heavy rainfall were the main culprits.
“We were hit hard in the Well Springs area early in the afternoon, and this latest storm has toppled upwards of 40 trees,” said County Road Superintendent. “The tree across Rusty Road is one of many here in the City,” said Casey Boshears, La Follette’s Public Works Director.

Near Ball Farm Event Center is the top of a pole left and the bottom of the same pole right.
Davis Chapel eastward has been hit hard with trees down from Alder Springs to Stinking Creek to Indian River.
North 25th Street, Lobertini Bridge, South 12th and East Fir Streets, 1200 block of Loop Road, West Chestnut at South 5th Streets, Old Jacksboro Pike as well as Brantley Lane are some of the areas where trees are down in La Follette. “We’re working to get trees removed from roads as quickly as possible,” said Boshears.

Crews with LUB and all the road departments from the different municipalities are all hands on deck.
