Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee’s Mobile Pantry was at the Church of God

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- The final count was 1,200. That’s 320 families, 1,200 individuals, who were served, blessed at the monthly Second Harvest Food Bank food drive on Tuesday hosted by the La Follette Church of God. The big Mobile Food Pantry rolled onto the church campus early Tuesday morning.
“The staff and volunteers from Second Harvest teamed with La Follette Church of God to make a huge difference again in this month’s food distribution,” said Pastor Michael Dent.

Members of the La Follette Church of God, members of other churches and others volunteered to help lift, carry and load boxes of food. “We had a young man who lives within walking distance of the church hear about our event, and he just come over and started helping,” said Dent.
Fresh vegetables, fruits, canned goods, boxed foods and fresh meat were given to approximately 1,200 people to put nutritious meals on their tables.

“We are extremely appreciative of the product availability and for different agencies coming together to make these events happen. We are also grateful to Open Arms Ministry for distributing the remaining products to area families. Each of us consider it all as blessings from the Lord to help those in need,” said Dent.
