JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The sanitation center may start accepting tires attached to rims at a cost of $5 per wheel if commissioners approve it at next Monday’s regular monthly county commission meeting.
Currently the sanitation department accepts just tires at a cost of $1 per tire, but according to Sanitation Department Director David Adkins, “the center does have the capability of separating these tires from rims” and often has people bring tires on rims into the sanitation center.
The recycling center accepts tires for $1 each, but lately has been receiving additional tires with rims on them.
“Currently we don’t accept them, we only accept the tire, but we do have the ability to separate them, but we need to charge a fee,” Adkins said, adding that the fee should be set at $5.
This item will be voted on at next week’s meeting.
Other sanitation department business on the agenda for next week is the termination of a municipal trash interlocal agreement between the county and Jellico.
The agreement was entered into in July of 2023. Beginning in July of 2024, Jellico “decided to contract with another provider for transportation and disposal.”
Final sanitation business to be voted on next week is the approval of Campbell County Sanitation Employee training agreement for attending truck driving school. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-10/15/2024-6AM)
