Lady Cougars 66 Central 21
JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – “This could get ugly in a hurry,” said Clayton Carroll, the Young Voice of the Cougars. And it did. Central took almost six minutes to score after Campbell posted the first 13 points, and held a 33 point lead at intermission. Campbell won by 45 after leading by 46 at one stage as Central fell 66-21.
Campbell won the tip, Saylor Hutcheson laid in a left hand lay up and the Lady Cougars never looked back. The lead grew to 13-0 and then to 23-3 at the end of the first quarter. Carly Kitts and Bella Lester brought the one-two punch with each scoring double figures in the first half.
The halftime score was 42-9, a 33 point advantage. That came after the Lady Cougars outscored Central 19-6 in quarter number two.

Campbell’s Destiny Rutherford shoots two free throws off a flagrant foul where she was slammed into the padding under the basket.
The third quarter was much the same. Campbell tallied 19 points to eight from the Lady Bobcats and the difference was 61-17 after three.
Campbell managed only five fourth quarter points to four by Central.
Carley Kitts and Bella Lester took top scoring honors with 14 points each. Preslee Chapman put up nine points with Hutcheson getting eight while Reagan Davis finished with seven. Six points came from Jayden Kitts with Lacey Pemberton, back from injury, scoring four. Destiny Rutherford had three and Aleah Woodson picked up a point.

Lacey Pemberton (32), coming off an ankle injury, posts high against Central.
Campbell improves to 17 & 2 and 2 & 1 in the district. Oak Ridge comes to Brown Gym on Saturday night for a key District 3-AAAA showdown. Tip off is at 6pm over the WLAF-Doyle’s Tire Sports Network. Clayton Carroll has the call.
