Wlaf1450The family of Russell James Carpenter, of Speedwell, Tennessee is saddened by his passing. He passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 31st, at the age of 65 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years, Vickie; his children Shayna (Justin ), and James (Kayleigh); 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; his mother Barbara Phillips; his brothers Steve (Maria) and John Carpenter, as well as numerous additional family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Carl Carpenter.
Russell, born July 21,1960, from that day, he lived a life filled with love and laughter. He was our rock, whether he was at “The Rock” or not, he would do everything and anything for the ones he loved. He was deeply loved by his family and by all that knew him, ok, most that knew him. He definitely made a lasting impact on everyone who truly knew him. He was the kind of person who always brought “kindness” to every gathering.
One of Russell’s favorite sign-off things to say was, “Mad love to you all” and/or “See you on the other side.” That being said, well, Mad love to you too and we will most definitely see you on the other side. Now, as we say goodbye, we hold onto those words and know that he made it there first to watch over us like the angel he (somewhat) always had been.
As each day passes, and time goes on, know that each time we speak his name it will ensure that he will never be forgotten…..greatly missed, but you can never forget the ones that have left such a lasting impression on each one of our lives.
We are all heartbroken by his passing and these moments of remembrance mean so much to all of us, and allow us to share stories, offer comfort, and honor the legacy Russell James Carpenter leaves behind.
Visitation Service will be held from 4:00pm-6:00pm, on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Cross-Smith Funeral Home, 300 E Central Ave, LaFollette, TN.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday January 10,2026 at The Big Rock Tavern from noon-close.
