Rita Mae McCoy Craig, age 77 of Lake City, passed away on January 29, 2025 at her home under hospice care. She was born September 28, 1947 to the late James C. McCoy and Bonnie Chene and also Reva McCoy, step-mother. She is also preceded in death by mother-in-law, Asilee Ward; her brother, Larry McCoy; and grandson, James Cody Craig.
She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church. Rita was of the Baptist faith and everybody that knew her she told how much she loved Jesus. She was an LPN, loved taking care of people and was a very giving person.
She is survived by: husband of 60 years, Calvin Isaiah Craig; daughters, Linda Bunch and husband Mack of Lake City, and Madonna Lee Craig Housley of Lake City; and son, James Calvin Craig of Lake City; grandchildren, Rita Renee and Jacob Byrge of Clinton, Maegan Sharee and Jeff Courtney of Morristown and Makinzie Paige and Rodney Moore of Leavenworth Kansas, Jeffery Dail Housley, II of Briceville; and Jessica Danielle Housley of Lake City; great-grandchildren, Tyson, Brooklyn, Kellen, Jayden, Makenna, Micah, Elliana Grace, Tai, and Von; great-great-grandchildren, Willow Everly, and Miles Dean, and a host of other extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Leach Family Funeral Home and Cremation on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 5-7pm with the funeral service to follow at 7pm with Pastor Wayne Phillips officiating.
