Rev. Earl Chapman, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday January 6, 2026.  He was born on December 9, 1938, to the late Harry and Winona Davis Chapman.  Earl was the pastor of Elk Valley First Baptist Church for more than 30 years. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge #778. He was retired from ORNL and Peoples Bank of the South.

In addition to his parents, Earl is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Bobbie Jean Chapman; and grandson, Matthew Cox.

Earl is survived by his son, Darryl Wayne Chapman and wife Dawn of Jacksboro; daughters,  Brenda Lynn Dykes and husband Robert of LaFollette and Rebecca Diane Cox of Knoxville; brother, Ralph Eugene Chapman of Washington; special friends, Roger Stanley and Gary Petree; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday January 11, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:45 PM in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home.  Masonic Service to follow at 3:45 PM, and funeral service to follow at 4:00 PM with Rev. Roger Stanley officiating.  Friends and family will meet at the funeral home on Monday January 12, 2026, at 10:15 AM to go in funeral procession for an 11:00 AM interment at Campbell Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the Campbell County Honor Guard.

The family has entrusted the care of Rev. Earl Chapman to Martin Wilson Funeral Home “Where Families Matter Most”.

  1. I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR THIS…EARL AND I GRADUATED TOGETHER AND HIS GRANDMOTHER, AUNT LIZZIE WAS MY PAPPA PAUL’S SISTER…PLEASE KNOW THAT BOBBIE AND HE ARE TOGETHER NOW AND FREE FROM PAIN, SORROW AND DEATH.
