JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Campbell County Commissioners passed a resolution at Monday’s meeting, asking the Tennessee Department of Transportation, along with Senator Ken Yager and State Representative Dennis Powers to help with traffic problems in the county and to conduct a traffic study and enhance safety.

County Commission Chairman Johnny Bruce brought the topic up at the Dec. 8 workshop, saying that if something wasn’t done and a major accident occurred, then ambulances would not be able to get through due to how backed up traffic was “from Caryville to LaFollette”.

At that same workshop, County Commissioners Beverly Hall and Dewayne Kitts said Highway 63 turnoffs were still a safety concern as well, particularly with people turning on the shoulder of the roads at several turnoffs as if they were turning lanes.

The resolution asked for a “road study on Highway 63 from Caryville to LaFollette and “to enhance safety off of Carl General Stiner Highway.”

Commissioner Rusty Orick said they could hand deliver the resolution to state officials when the commission travels to Nashville in February. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-12/16/2025-6AM)
