IVs administered to five La Follette firefighters during Saturday morning house fire

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- The Red Cross came to the aid of two residents after the home they were renting at 304 North 5th Street went up in flames on Saturday morning. Though there were others inside the home when the fire started, the two residents suffered minor burns and were treated at the La Follette Medical Center. One La Follette Fire Department Firefighters was also injured.

The scene about an hour into the response to the house fire at 304 North 5th Street.

“The heat was intense, so intense, five of our firefighters had to be given IVs,” said LFD Chief Jimmy Pack. The chief called in all off duty LFD firefighters to assist.

WLAF News was on the scene just as some of those still in this house were making their way to safety.

Four dogs perished in the fire while two were saved.

Downed power lines, described as arcing by firefighters, were reported.

The structure closest to the burning house, a church, was saved.

La Follette Fire and Police responded along with an LUB crew and Campbell County EMS and the Caryville Volunteer Fire Department.

  1. Thank u to the fire men that were able to save the 2 puppies. I hope everyone involved weren’t severely hurt and they all make a speedy recovery.
