Late night rescue effort was successful

Crews set up a rope system lowering a rescuer into the cave. He was lowered about 150-feet down to the dog.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Members of the La Follette Rescue Squad and Campbell County Rural Fire Service come through for a hunter and his dog.

At 10:42 Monday night, crews from LRS and CCRFS were requested to Bethlehem Road due to a hunting dog falling into a cave.

When crews arrived, they were taken to the wooded location of the cave. Crews set up a rope system lowering a rescuer into the cave. He was lowered about 150-feet down to the dog.

The dog was placed in a safety device and brought to the surface along with the crew member.

LRS and CCRFS crews were requested to Bethlehem Road due to a hunting dog falling into a cave late Monday night.

  1. I know neither the hunter nor the dog. I also don’t know the rescuers. What I do know is that an act of kindness and compassion was given to an animal in trouble. I’m sure the hunter and his dog are grateful for your rescue assistance. As for me, I’d like to extend a huge THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE to everyone involved in this safe and successful rescue.
