LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Chubby’s Drive-In was billed as ” L A ‘s Finest “. It sat near the East Beech Street intersection with East Central Avenue across from the hospital.

It was a white brick building featuring bright pink neon with a 1950s theme designed by Jim Cole. Chubby’s was opened in May 1994 by David Reynolds and B.J. Brown, the two local boys who opened the restaurant to the east side when there was no restaurant on that end of town.

The opening day special was two Chubby’s Burgers loaded with two fries and two Coca-Colas for $5.49. A favorite desert was the Apple Nuggets with ice cream and hot caramel.

Oh, and remember Chubby Radio? You could tune your car radio to the special Chubby’s frequency and hears songs from long ago.

Chubby’s Drive-In soon become a favorite spot no matter how far you drove to get there. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-02/26/2026-6AM)
