Work cannot resume on project until TDEC can assess the water on site

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- On Wednesday night, the Jacksboro Planning Commission met with a short agenda. The first item on the agenda was the re-subdivision of Mtn. Perkins Hill Phase III section II.
On Nov. 6, the Jacksboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen sent the re-subdivision of Mtn. Perkins back to the planning commission for further review.
Wednesday night, Jacksboro Planning Commission Chairman Jack Cannon told those in attendance the development met the requirements for division of the lots. However, given water issues in the area, the town issued a stop work order. Cannon stated that he was slated to meet with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) today, however they rescheduled to next week. Work cannot resume on the project until TDEC can assess the water on site and decide if it’s a stream or a wet weather conveyance. Once a decision is made on the issue, then the next steps for the project can be decided.
John Garnes with Genysis Construction was present to discuss adding a concrete porch to the building at 641 Main Street where they are constructing a showroom for their business. They would like to add an addition to the back area of the building, but it is near a stream and there are concerns about the distance requirement. The commission told Garnes to contact Building Inspector Lisa Crumpley about the issue.
Two other items were on the agenda but were tabled. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-11/20/2025-6AM)
