Date of Sat., Oct. 10, set for annual Jacksboro Fall Festival

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Problems continue for some proposed homes in the Mt. Perkins subdivision, more specifically Perkins Hills Phase III.
In November, residents of the neighborhood raised concerns about the potential for increased flooding due to the new development. The new development is slated to have five manufactured homes that will be approximately 1,568 square feet each.
On Monday afternoon at the Jacksboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting, concerns were raised about stagnant water in a blue stream (an area that is only wet when it rains). It was alleged there were stumps in the area that had caused blockage. After some discussion, the board agreed to send a letter to the developer to clean the stumps up in the area.
Four personnel matters were approved. First, Joe Hopson was hired as assistant police chief at the rate of $23 an hour Next, Tyler Person was hired as a police officer at the rate of $17 an hour, and once Person completes Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST), he will be raised to $19 an hour. Karly Malicoat was hired as a part time library assistant at the rate of $14 an hour. Geneva Perkins was hired as an as-needed assistant in the office at the rate of $14 an hour.
The board approved the yearly contract with the East Tennessee Development District (ETDD) for $9,734.50.
Saturday, October 10 was selected as the date for the 2026 Fall Festival. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-03/25/2026-6AM)
