‘This is a real big deal, and it’s giving the community a lift-‘ JHS Football Coach Brent Peel

JELLICO, TN (WLAF)- As Jellico’s football team prepares for the new season, crews with Baseline continue doing their part in constructing a new playing surface for the Blue Devils.

“There’s still a few more days to go with trim work, yard line numbers, hash marks and the end zone dressing yet to go,” said Jellico High Principal Joey St. John. This photo is at the end of the work day on Thursday.

“We open with Lynn Camp (a school just outside Corbin), and the completion date is estimated to be about one week before before that game. Even though we have high hopes to kick-off on that new turf, we will have a contingency plan just in case something unforeseen happens to delay the scheduled completion,” said JHS Principal Joey St. John.

Jellico’s new football field is coming right along at Tiller Stadium in this photo that was snapped early Thursday morning.

“I’m really happy for the community of Jellico, and I thank the director of schools, the administration, the school board, commission and anyone who had a hand in making the turf possible,” said Coach Brent Peel, Jellico High Head Football Coach. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/09/2024-6AM)
